It’s been two weeks since Lamar Odom announced that his father, Joe Odom, had passed away and the former NBA star is still reeling over his death.

On Monday (May 3), Odom took to Instagram to thank everyone who reached out to him during his time of mourning. “Thank you to everyone who extended love and prayers to me during my time of bereavement,” he captioned a painting of him and his father. “I appreciate every single one of you for sending me good energy. Life is not promised. My pops and I had our differences, but at the end of the day, I knew he loved me and I loved him and that’s really all that matters.”

The former Los Angeles Lakers star also encouraged his followers to improve their relationships with their loved ones before it’s too late. “I encourage you to take some time and make amends with family and friends, tell someone you love them, smile a little more, laugh out loud, give your heart to those that deserve it because NOTHING is promised but death. That’s it,” Odom added.

He also thanked the special women in his life who helped him through this difficult time, including his rumored girlfriend, “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” star Karlie Redd.

“Thanks to my ladies @savvygirlconsulting for always having my front and back — love y’all for life,” Odom wrote. “Special thanks to @iamkarlieredd for having this picture made of me and my father and being an amazing friend to me always. Now the work begins, I have a legacy to leave!!”

Odom and his father have always had a difficult relationship. In his 2020 autobiography, “Darkness to Light: A Memoir,” the basketball star touched on their issues, which would sometimes be about finances.

The REVOLT team would like to send our condolences to the Odom family at this time. Check out his post below.
