Today, legendary producer The Alchemist reveals a new EP titled This Thing Of Ours, which sees eight tracks — four collaborative cuts and their matching instrumentals. The biggest feature on the short play is Earl Sweatshirt, who appears on two tracks — “Nobles” and “Loose Change,” the latter of which is a two-minute run that proves just how lyrically dope and introspective that the Odd Future alum remains to this day:

“You be with the boys and I’ma be with the dawgs, blood on the Travies, it serve as a challenge coin, I’m the voice, I had to speak for the org, passed the preacher, smashed up weed on the organ, master teachings, actually couldn’t hold me, I was hungry, mama made her son read, so I’m hunting glances ‘til the peak, that still didn’t feed me, I had to get a feel for the whole thing/”

This Thing Of Ours follows an incredibly busy 2020 for the Cali veteran, beginning with notable instrumental EPs like A Doctor, Painter & An Alchemist Walk Into A Bar, The Food Villain, and Man of Many Hats. In addition to his own work, he also created a slew of joint projects, including with Boldy James, Conway The Machine and Armand Hammer for The Price of Tea in China, LULU, and Haram, respectively. He and Freddie Gibbs also earned a Grammy nod for last May’s Alfredo, a 10-track masterpiece that saw additional contributions from Rick Ross, Benny The Butcher, Conway, and Tyler, The Creator. Alfredo is currently both Al and Gibbs’ highest-charting album to date, landing at number 15 on the Billboard 200 thanks to 30,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week out. Al’s last official album, Yacht Rock 2, made landfall in 2019.
