According to King, the conversations between Harry, his brother, Prince William, and father, Prince Charles, were “not productive.”

Weeks after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s shocking interview with Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King provided fans with an update on the couple’s life. On Tuesday (March 16), during a recent episode of “CBS This Morning,” the talk show host revealed that Harry started talking to his father, Prince Charles, and brother, Prince William though their exchanges have been pointless.

“I’m not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling,” King said.“And it’s true, Harry has talked to his brother, and he has talked to his father, too.”

“The word I was given was that those conversations were ‘not productive,’” said the CBS personality. “But they are glad they have at least started a conversation.” Members of the royal family haven’t yet spoken to Markle.

In the two-hour interview that aired earlier this month on CBS, Harry and the former “Suits” actress opened up about their experiences as members of the royal family. Markle revealed some of the royals, excluding Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, were concerned with how dark Archie’s skin would be and admitted she nearly contemplated suicide. Harry shared that the royal family severed ties with him and his wife after they decided to step back as senior royals.

The vulnerable conversation was met with tons of social media posts that expressed sympathy for Harry and Markle. Beyoncé and the actress’ friend Serena Williams showed the couple love, and most recently, Michelle Obama sent her thoughts and prayers to the family.

“The thing that I hope for and the thing I think about is that this, first and foremost, is a family, and I pray for forgiveness and healing for them so that they can use this as a teachable moment for us all,” the former first lady told “Today.”

The Buckingham Palace has since released a statement addressing the highly-discussed interview. “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan…Issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning,” read the statement. “While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”
