From Detroit to the United Kingdom and Brooklyn, it’s amazing to see how much the drill scene continues to expand across the globe. Case in point — Ghana is another area that’s been steadily growing their own drill scene, and one of its current frontrunners is rising star Yaw Tog.

Last year, the 19 year old broke through the proverbial mold with “Sore” (or “rise up”), which featured his Asakaa affiliates O’Kenneth, City Boy, ReGGie, and Jay Bhad. Now, Yaw Tog reveals a remix of “Sore” that now sees assists from fellow Ghanian Kwesi Arthur and Stormzy, a British star of Ghanian descent that adds his own flair to the track with the “straight to the point” rhymes he’s become well-known for:

“Big Mike on a remix, you don’t live the life, you just dream it, don’t mind them boys, they don’t mean it, if I slap your face you’re gonna feel it, slide in the middle like grealish, my next hit’s bigger than my previous/”

Directed by Koo Poku Studios, the accompanying visual somewhat matches that of the original, with the artists mobbing heavy in different locations around their neighborhood. It’s all quite reminiscent of the clips typically seen from American artists — a massive crew dancing and partying to the music in support of the main star.

Interestingly enough, Stormzy has been fairly dormant these days, aside from a single appearance on Ghetts’ Conflict of Interest standout “Skengman.” His sophomore LP, Heavy Is The Head, was released back in 2019, featuring contributions from the likes of Headie One, H.E.R., Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy, and Tiana Major9. That project has since earned the Croydon emcee a Platinum certification.

Press play on “Sore (Remix)” below — the track will appear on Yaw Tog’s forthcoming EP Time, which is set to drop later this month.
