Back in September, Kamauu recruited Adeline for his song “Mango,” a soulful expression of wishing a loved one well, even if they’re not with you. The already well-received song just got even better as they tap Masego in for the assist. The trio linked up for a jam session, which has turned into footage for a new lyric fans can sing along to as the enticing hook plays:
Ooh, if you found some other dude. What do I do? If he loves you truly, yeah/ How could I not love him, too? If he improves you, more than I used to, hey/ I don’t want nothing but you, getting what you need/ Even if it ain’t from me, ’cause I love you, and what love is never selfish/ And of service? ’Cause I love you, and what love is never selfish/ And on purpose? If I said I had to leave you, what would you do? Would you still talk to me? I never want to be cruel to you/ I can tell you thе truth or what you need to hear if I had to choose
Aside from “Mango,” we heard fomr Kamauu in 2020 with his singles “Far Rockaway” and “BOA.” In 2019 he released TheKAMAUU-CASETTE: MiXD GReeNS. Masego’s latest offering is his Studying Abroad EP. That project follows Masego’s official debut album Lady Lady, which included features from SiR, Tiffany Gouché, De’ Wayne Jackson, and FKJ. The TrapHouseJazz singer certainly hasn’t been mute since then, as he dropped off plenty of appearances on singles in 2020 alone, including “Golden Ticket” with Brasstracks and Common, “Good & Plenty” with Alex Isley and Jack Dine, “Stickin’” with Sinead and VanJess, along with his own singles “Veg Out,” “King’s Rant,” and the aforementioned “Passport.”
