It’s been more than a decade since Kingpen Slim liberated the iconic The Beam Up, the first of a classic mixtape series that saw the uptown D.C. emcee trading bars alongside Tabi Bonney, Phil Adé, Kevin Ross, and more. Since then, he’s delivered a wealth of memorable projects — including Pass The Roc, Life After Doubt, and 2018’s Trapper’s Delight — while connecting with the likes of Jim Jones, Wale, Edley Shine, No Malice, and Styles P along the way.

Today, he begins his campaign towards a new full-length with the new single “Nobody Move,” which features genre-bending artist Mod Stoney and sees the two delivering hard-hitting, multi-layered bars over drill-inspired production courtesy of long-time collaborator DJ J Buttah — some of which arrive before the bassline even hits:

“Nobody shot, nobody move, not in the mood to go by the rules, he’s 42 with the Veuve, you can see me on the block, and me on the tube, you can see me in the drop, i get the guap in the drop/

two hundred up top, I might not stop for the cops, I sneak my knife in the spot, like it or not, bitch I got big coins and knots, bitch I got bitcoin and stocks/”

Last year, Kingpen Slim reminded everyone why he’s one of the highest tier lyricists in the game with the quick-strike mixtape titled Barchives, which — much like the aforementioned Pass The Roc offering — saw Slim demolishing instrumentals previously utilized by peers and predecessors like Fabolous, Casanova, Mobb Deep, Rick Ross, the late Nipsey Hussle, and the Wu-Tang Clan. 2020 also saw the track and Moshpxt-shot visual for “Still Earn,” which alluded to the forthcoming release of Fine Lines, said to be making landfall in February.

In the meantime, you can enjoy “Nobody Move” below.
