Asiahn was previously honored by REVOLT as one of seven undeniable rising R&B talents to look out for, saying she has “emerged as a voice who keeps the traditional elements of R&B alive, while melding in her own contemporary twist.” Her fresh new EP The Interlude embodies just that. Right from the project’s intro, Asiahn’s pen gets to work as she shares an honest verse about love and pride:
That pride’s gonna get you killed. If life’s a paradise for lovers that’s real. I’ve never seen a wrong love last. Never seen an ego holding hands. Liars ain’t the prototype (‘totype). Trust is just a mutual first dance. I’ve never been so scared in my world. I tend to hide here, seeking shelter from the hurt (From the hurt). The time has come to let you in. Will you run and hide or dwell deep in my abyss? Go deep in my abyss.
Asiahn is known for penning hits for massive stars like Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Drake, Lil Wayne, and Dr. Dre. The new short and sweet EP includes five new tracks and features from Grandmaster Vic and Jordan Hawkins, clocking in at just under 13 minutes. The project follows her two installments of her Love Train series. The timing of the EP coincides with her healing journey. “If I’m going through something hard, I don’t wanna write about it until I’ve healed, because otherwise I’m bringing you into my negative space and I have no resolve for you,” Asiahn says of The Interlude via press release. “And with this project, I wanna make sure I’m giving you just enough to be satisfied, but not enough to be full. At the end of the day, my music is my identity.”
