Yesterday (Nov. 12) marked the launch of the long-awaited Playstation 5 — the newest game console. As video game enthusiasts expressed their excitement about the release, Boosie Badazz took the opportunity to share a few words of wisdom with the gaming community.

“Playin[g] a video game like a junkie will take [yo]u off yo[ur] grind [a]n[d] take too much time away from your grind!!” he tweeted. “Don’t let a PS5 have you with the same bag of money for two [o]r 3 years. This aint the year to be bullshittin[g] on no game.”

Some Twitter users mentioned they’ve stopped playing video games to pursue their goals, while others argued gaming has multiple benefits.

“Folks is making bread off games playing one another, playing online, streaming, AND them games is keeping folks off them streets. You can have your cake & eat it. Playing games, staying safe, making money. But everything aint for everybody,” one tweet read.

Another user clarified that Boosie’s tweet doesn’t discourage use of the PS5, but warns that the “time away from your grind” will come at a cost.

Though Boosie didn’t appear enthused by the PS5 drop, Travis Scott has actually helped in the promotion of the game system. The Astroworld star recently joined the Playstation family as a strategic creative partner and has owned a console since announcing his partnership. In honor of yesterday’s release date, he posted a video of him surprising a few of his teen fans with the PS5.

“He just popped out, like I was having mixed emotions,” one of the kids said in the video. “I don’t know, I just couldn’t think at the moment. We look up to him as a person, as a role model just because he came from where most of us came from. He makes music for us.”

“I’m not gonna lie, it’s kinda crazy…to be able to drop them off something special,” Scott added. “Man, I wish somebody just showed up to my spot and gave me one of my favorite consoles.”
