Next month, Che Lingo will be releasing his third studio album The Worst Generation, which consists of 12 tracks and appearances from Ghetts, Rachel Chinouriri, Samm Henshaw, and more. Last weekend, the South London artist liberated his new single “Dark Days,” which features Kojey Radical and, as Lingo explained via press release, speaks to self-reflection about love and life as a Black youth:

“This song is a self prescribed therapy session. Growing up and getting into dating and experiencing things as a young black male, I realised I had nothing to go on relationship wise because my household wasn’t nuclear.”

The accompanying visual comes courtesy of Connor O’Hara and sees the two collaborators performing with musicians playing behind them. They can also be seen in different locations of a coastal residence. There are also parrots, further adding to the multi-layered atmosphere of the track.

“Dark Days” follows this year’s singles “Spaghetti,” “Black Ones,” and “My Block,” the last two of which will appear on The Worst Generation. The new album is also Che Lingo’s first released under his new deal with Idris Elba’s 7WALLACE, which was first announced back in February. He also spoke on the new partnership to REVOLT TV:

“Obviously, you meet somebody that you’ve only ever seen on TV at the time, and they’re almost not real to you … And before you know it, someone is messaging you saying, ‘I run the music arm of this person’s label’ or, ‘This person’s entity, this massive global brand and we’re interested in talking to you about your music and do sort of merger. It all became very real very quickly.”

The Worst Generation also follows the two EPs Charisma and Sensitive, released in 2018 and 2019, respectively. In that time, Lingo has also collaborated with the likes of Mick Jenkins and Toddla T, Nadia Rose, and 808INK.

Press play on Che Lingo and Kojey Radical’s “Dark Days” clip below. The Worst Generation drops October 23.
