Casanova and DMX “Don’t Play Games” on new single

Old and new hip hop generations unite on the hard-hitting track.

Not that he’s ever left, but DMX is currently enjoying a resurgence in hip hop following his VERZUZ battle against fellow legend Snoop Dogg. For his latest, he teams up with fellow New York star Casanova on the hard-hitting cut “Play No Games,” which sees production from Divine Bars and contains the type of razor sharp street subject matter that you would expect from these two emcees.

“Burner in the ride, burner on my side, burn him if he try, murder on my mind, shoot him his back then turn him on the side, before I send him to the sky I wanna look him in his eyes/

So I could tell that n***a bye-bye, and here’s some rules that we abide by, never rat, stay with a strap, X got Yonkers, BK on my back/”

Casanova has been tearing up the streets this year with a plethora of singles, including “Stress,” “Red Light,” “Run This Town,” “COVID 19,” and more. His last project, the debut studio LP Behind These Scars, was released back in October and saw collaborations with Fabolous, Gunna, Young Thug, Jeremih, Chris Brown, Giggs, and more.

Outside of his aforementioned VERZUZ appearance, DMX has remained quiet musically for a presumed number of reasons, releasing his last single — the Swizz Beatz-assisted “Bane Iz Back” — back in 2017. His latest album, Redemption of the Beast, was released two years prior and was reported to be unauthorized by DMX or his team. Recently social media posts have shown that the Ruff Ryders alum is back in the studio with Swizz, giving hope for a proper return from the legendary artist.

In the meantime, fans can press play on Casanova and DMX’s “Don’t Play Games” below. In related news, DMX is also heading back to the big screen — Chronicle of a Serial Killer, where he plays a detective on the hunt for a serial killer, is set to be released in October.
