Tory Lanez is absolutely on fire right now. Not only is he taking over Instagram with “Quarantine Radio,” the Canadian wunderkind is delivering visual after visual from this month’s release The New Toronto 3. For his latest, he drops off a new clip for “Dope Boy’s Diary,” a track that focuses on both his amazing lyrical ability and self-reflection about relationships, family, and more:

“Told my b***h, “I love her”, she ain’t say it back, my heart, I can’t play with that, f*** it, that’s that, and we made it that/

Runnin’ through the trap to find my re-up, tryna make it back, BM trippin’, I’m just tryna cop my son his favorite snacks/

Love from the Crip, Bloods, and GDs, scammin’ out the bank, I made like fifty thou’ on TD/

In this trap, my homeboys my heart, but s***, I gotta move greedy, got a budget for the lawyer case I lose with this PD/”

The visual — directed by Lanez and Anaiya Farias — sees a single moving shot of Tory Lanez in front of a microphone and behind a backdrop of what presumably symbolizes the song’s title. In essence, the simple-yet-effective display leaves the viewer to enjoy Tory’s raps and raw emotion without interference from smoke and mirrors.

“Dope Boy’s Diary” follows previously released videos for “W,” “Who Needs Love,” “Do The Most,” and “Broke In A Minute.” Released last Friday, The New Toronto 3 is currently competing with The Weeknd’s older drop After Hours for a Billboard number one entry via a projected 60 to 70 thousand equivalent album units sold. Thanks to his steady promotion and entertaining IG Live sessions, there’s a good chance that Tory Lanez wins that race to the top.
