As protests across the country — and around the world — continue to demand justice for Black victims of police brutality, one city that remains to have civil unrest after months of Black Lives Matter marches and demonstrations is Portland, Oregon.

Since the police killing of George Floyd back in May, it has seemed as though this city and its residents have been going viral every single night as the left and the right clash, and protesters seek a change to end systemic racism and the oppression of Black people. Saturday (Aug. 29) was no different. Once again, #PortlandProtests were a trending topic as a pro-Trump rally took place in the city. On social media, Twitter and IG users could see countless posts and videos of Trump supporters clashing with counter-protesters.

There are even a number of clips that show what appears to be Trump supporters attempting to run these counter-protesters over with their vehicles, as well as shooting paintball guns at them.

But, that’s not even the worst of what’s happened tonight. People in the city, police included, are also confirming that someone has been shot and killed amid the chaos. It’s yet to be confirmed whether the fatal shooting was related to the demonstrations or not. Some are saying that it was a Trump supporter who killed a protester, however. But, we’re still waiting on evidence to know if that claim is, indeed, factual.

Nevertheless, authorities quickly rushed to tend to the wounded victim, who many are reporting to be a white male. However, the wounds were too severe and he quickly went from critical condition to deceased.

There has also been a shooting at another protest in Washington, D.C. where someone was reportedly shot in the leg and is now severely injured. However, there’s been no confirmation about the reasoning behind that incident as of yet either.
