Last July, YG’s home was raided by the Los Angeles Police Department in connection with an investigation into a fatal shooting that had involved his car. The Compton-bred rapper later explained on Twitter that he had been at a Hollywood recording studio the day of the shooting and “did not learn of these events until after they happened.”

In a recent interview with “The Morning Hustle,” YG reflected on the police raid and shared disturbing details of officers pointing guns at his young children.

“The police came, raided my house — with me and my family and my kids,” he began. “They come through like 4 [a.m.], we asleep. The helicopter came around and all that. So, I bounced up like, ‘What’s going on?’ Boom — they bang the door in trying to get in the door. So, I go downstairs, I open the door — boom! They drew down [guns] on me. That’s normal, but my kids at the time were 4 years old and 6 years old. They upstairs in the room with their mama.”

“[The police] go up in the room and they got the big AKs all in my little kids’ face like, ‘Don’t move,’” he continued. “I’m like, bro, what the fu*k is y’all doing? Y’all got me fu*ked up.”

YG continued to explain that he’s had “plenty” of tense run-ins with law enforcement, but that the officers’ treatment of his kids crossed a line.

“I’ve been through a lot of other stuff with the police, but I’m from the streets so it’s like I got a target on my back. And I know that, so [run-ins with the police] ain’t really nothing to talk about ‘cause when you from a certain area, the police gonna fu*k with you,” he explained.

The rapper has been heavily involved with recent anti-police brutality protests in Los Angeles and showed his support for the Black Lives Matter movement in his new songs “Swag” and “FTP.”

“I’ve never got beat by the police ‘cause I’m always with a group of people,” he said. “We’re like, ‘We know our rights. Don’t touch me. No, we ain’t getting out the car. We ain’t doing none of that.’”

“But I know some people that got killed by the police,” he continued. “One of them made the news — it was like a year ago. There’s a lot of stuff that be going on with the police that don’t make the news, though, that you don’t hear about.”

Elsewhere in the interview, YG also expanded on his thoughts about Kanye West running for president. Watch the full clip below.
