Mustard and YG are giving back to their Los Angeles community in honor of Juneteenth. According to Billboard, the pair joined forces with Postmates to donate $100,000 worth of food to local residents after earning an equity stake in the California restaurant chain Fishbone Seafood.

“I met one of the owners at a gas station, and he told me we should do business,” YG revealed to the outlet. “I called Mustard and told him about the opportunity, and he was ready to go.”

The Los Angeles natives are hoping the new partnership will bring relief to the local communities that have been disproportionately affected by the Coronavirus.

COVID-19 has hit Black and Brown communities the hardest,” Mustard said. “YG and I have not forgotten where we come from, and feel a duty to support those who are less fortunate and have been our biggest supporters from the beginning.”

With today being Juneteenth (June 19) and the second annual Mustard Day in Los Angeles, YG and Mustard are using $50,000 of their donation to partner with Postmates to deliver meals within their local area. Participating Fishbone Seafood locations will also offer healthy dishes to customers that are named after the duo, such as seafood and vegetables meals called The YG Plate and The Mustard Plate.

Starting next week, the remaining the $50,000 worth of food will be distributed among various local organizations, including A New Way of Life, Hollywood Food Coalition, Midnight Mission, Watts Empowerment Center, Upward Bound House and several St. John’s Well Child and Family locations.

Earlier this year, YG’s 4Hundred Waze nonprofit donated over $10,000 in protective equipment to the Los Angeles’ Emergency Crisis Housing organization to help out amidst the pandemic. The donation provided over 100 local families with gloves, face masks, hand sanitizer, laundry and dish detergent, smart tablets, socks, board games, water, undergarments, diapers, bottles and toys.
