Trump’s campaign is poking fun at vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris ahead of tonight’s (Oct. 7) debate.
According to Amber Athey, the Washington editor for the British publication Spectator, Trump’s team is setting aside a ticket for Tupac at the vice presidential debate.
“The Trump campaign is leaving a ticket for Tupac Shakur at tonight’s VP debate because Kamala Harris called him her favorite rapper alive,” she tweeted. “(This is not a joke and was confirmed by Trump campaign senior adviser @JasonMillerinDC on a press call).”
Susan Crabtree Hennebury, White House and national political correspondent for RealClearPolitics, also confirmed the news with a tweet featuring words from Jason Miller.
“We have left a ticket for Tupac Shakur, Sen. Harris’ favorite rapper alive...,” the tweet read. “I’m personally more of a Biggie fan if he’s still alive, b[ut] we will have a ticket for Tupac.”
Trump’s campaign is teasing Harris after she mistakenly referred to the California native as the greatest rapper alive.
During an interview with Angela Rye, she was asked who she considered the greatest rapper alive and immediately responded, “Tupac!” When Rye told her he was no longer living, Harris replied, “I know. I keep doing that.”
Harris also expressed her love for the “California Love” star during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club” where she claimed she listened to his music in college. Social media users quickly discovered Tupac did not make his debut until after she graduated.
Shakur died in 1996 after a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, but some believe he may have actually survived.
Earlier this year, filmmaker Rick Boss announced he’s working on a fictional film about the rapper’s escape to New Mexico after the Vegas shooting.
“This movie is about Tupac actually escaping from University Medical Center here in Vegas and relocating to New Mexico [and] getting protection from the Navajo tribe,” Boss explained at the time.
Harris and Mike Pence will face off tonight at 9 p.m during the first vice presidential debate.
