Nene Leakes revealed over the weekend that he was “transitioning to the other side.”

Gregg Leakes, NeNe Leakes’ husband, passed away from colon cancer on Wednesday (Sept. 1). The 66-year-old real estate investor was initially diagnosed with the illness in 2018. After a successful surgery and treatment, NeNe shared with the public his cancer went into remission in 2019.

Leakes’ reality star wife revealed this past weekend that he was “transitioning to the other side.” A video captured the former “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” personality delivering an impromptu announcement about her husband’s condition inside of the Linnethia Lounge venue the couple owns.

“Give us some love, okay? You see my son right here, he’s hurting, I’m hurting,” NeNe said in the clip that soon went viral across social media. “We walked in here because we have to walk in here ‘cause we have this business but my husband is losing his life at this very moment.”

On Sunday (Aug. 29), NeNe shared a cryptic photo with the word “broken” on it via Instagram after the aforementioned video of her speaking about his deteriorating condition made its rounds across the internet.

Mr. Leakes is survived by his wife NeNe and his six children: Brentt, Damian, Katrina, Daryl, Denton and Dexter.

The family’s publicist and close friend Ernest Dukes issued an official statement about Gregg’s passing, as well. Read it below:

Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes.

We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very, very difficult time.

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans will truly miss Gregg. He was a highlight and always in great spirits — even through his rough battle with his health.

May he now rest well and in peace.
