‘ATL’ director Chris Robinson shared a teaser for the film’s long-awaited sequel.

An ATL reboot has been confirmed. On Friday (Aug. 27), Chris Robinson, who directed the original 2006 film, shared the first look at its forthcoming sequel, ATL 2: Homecoming.

In an Instagram post, Robinson responded to Chance the Rapper, who tweeted on Wednesday (Aug. 25) that ATL “never truly got its flowers.” In the tweet, Chance went on to say that the cult classic is “probably the most quotable movie from [his] childhood.”

Robinson tagged Chance in his Instagram post on Friday, writing, “HEY [Chance the Rapper]. WHAT IF…….. WE DID IT ONE MORE TIME.”

Jackie Long, who starred in the original ATL as Esquire, also shared the trailer online and mentioned Chance.

“What am I looking at right now. See what you started [Chance the Rapper],” he wrote on Instagram.

The new trailer sees several stars from the first ATL — Long, T.I., Lauren London, Evan Ross, Albert Daniels, Jason Weaver and Khadijah Haqq — walking toward the camera while a monologue by Big Rube plays in the background. Robinson also tagged Malika Haqq and Big Boi in his post.

Arriving in 2006, ATL marked Robison’s directorial debut and officially launched London’s acting career. The film was loosely based on the experiences of the film’s producers — Dallas Austin and TLC’s Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins — growing up in Atlanta.

According to The Source, ATL grossed $21 million throughout its run, tripling its $7 million production costs. The film also won Best Hip Hop Movie at the 2006 BET Hip Hop Awards and was nominated for awards at the Black Movie Awards, Black Reel Awards and NAACP Image Awards.

Robinson first began hinting at a potential reboot in 2015. Later that year, T.I. also confirmed he was onboard for a sequel and in 2017, London told Complex that the project was in development.

“I know that they are working on it and I know that this is something that they are trying to push forward,” she said at the time.
