Kendrick Lamar has broken his silence and announced that he will be producing his last album with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE).

On Friday (Aug. 20), the “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” emcee posted a link to a website called oklama.com to his Instagram account which featured an image of a folder with the words “no thoughts” written underneath. “I spend most of my days with fleeting thoughts,” he wrote on the site. “Writing. Listening. And collecting old Beach cruisers. The morning rides keep me on a hill of silence. I go months without a phone.

“Love, loss, and grief have disturbed my comfort zone, but the glimmers of God speak through my music and family.”

Lamar then went on to tell his fans that he will be parting ways with his longtime label “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” he wrote. “The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling.”

He added, “There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I’ve prayed for you all. See you soon enough.”

Although Lamar hasn’t released a studio album since 2017, his older music is continuing to break records. A REVOLT previously reported, g ood kid, m.A.A.d. city recently hit a milestone on the Billboard 200 chart. Since debuting as the number two record in 2012, it has spent 450 weeks — over eight years — on the chart, making it the longest-charting hip hop studio album in history.
