After teasing fans with the cover art to their new collaboration, Normani and Cardi B’s “Wild Side” dropped earlier today (July 16), becoming one of the most praised song among Friday’s (July 16) newly-released music. In the track, Cardi channels her “WAP” energy and delivers some sexually-explicit lyrics.

“Look, dímelo, turn me ’round,” she raps in her verse. “Treat me like a watch, bust me down/On the kitchen floor, right on that towel/It’s my dick and I want it now, aw/Tell me how you want it/Put me on my back or my stomach/Baby, let me blow it like a trumpet.”

Cardi’s bars were instantly praised and quoted in a slew of social media posts, but it turns out that the verse was the second one she wrote. The original one, she revealed, was turned down by Normani’s team, who had a particular request.

“Sooo like I did a verse and Normani team said they wanted nastier, sooo I was like, ‘Alright. Your wish is my command,’” the Bronx rapper penned on Twitter.

Aside from Cardi’s verse, fans were impressed by the visual, which sees Normani’s “wild side” and broadcasts choreography skills that mirror the dancing style of the late Aaliyah, whose “One in A Million” hit is sampled on the song.

With all the acclaim, “Wild Side” is now the No. 1 song on US iTunes, per chart data. As for the accompanying video, it has already garnered more than two million views on YouTube.

Following the release of the record, Cardi took to Instagram to express how happy she is for the singer. “Soooo proud of you @normani!!!” she captioned a sexy photo of her and the “Motivation” star. “Deadass wanna cry for you!!”

In response, Normani declared her love and appreciation for the “Up” emcee. “I love you hard,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “Thank you for constantly uplifting me and calling me out for being tooooo in my head. I am forever grateful sis. This song really that ish tho.”
