Silk Sonic won the Best Group Award at the BET Awards 2021 and gave a great performance of their breakout hit, “Leave the Door Open.” However, the super duo couldn't resist the chance to tease fans about their upcoming debut album just a bit.

After wrapping up their smash hit, Anderson .Paak asked fans, “Do y’all wanna hear a new song?”

“Do y’all wanna hear a new song off the album?” he repeated as the audience screamed to hear the new track.

However, the tease turned out to be a hoax, as .Paak responded, “Nah, we gon’ run it back. Let’s go!”

On Twitter, fans laughed — and cried — at the missed opportunity to hear a new Silk Sonic song.

“Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars have unfortunately mastered the art of trolling with this Silk Sonic album,” one fan tweeted.

“Ok but are Silk Sonic ever gonna drop a second song or a album ???? I feel like they just ‘Leave the Door Open’ us to death,” another wrote.

Silk Sonic, comprised of .Paak and Bruno Mars, burst onto the scene in April with their debut single, “Leave the Door Open.” The smooth track reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Bruno’s eighth song to go No. 1 and .Paak’s first.

“Cmon [Anderson .Paak], we did it!!” Bruno celebrated on Instagram at the time. “Thank you everyone for supporting this song. Y’all really Came throoooougghhhhh. And we’re just getting started. Press play on #LeaveTheDoorOpen and let us all celebrate and romantically twerk together as one. #LetSilkSonicThrive.”

Also on social media, .Paak wrote, “[Bruno Mars] WE DID IT BRO!!! It is now safe to wear your bell bottoms all week!! #LeaveTheDoorOpen is the number 1 song in the country and I can’t thank y’all enough! [Bruno Mars] we poppin bottles in the Stu today. I’m otw champ! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!”

No word yet on when the duo’s highly anticipated debut album will drop — but for now, check out these reactions to their trolling on Twitter below.
