Cordae has teamed up with the Disney Dreamers Academy and ESPN’s The Undefeated to help support students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities. On Thursday (June 17), the Maryland native was revealed as a featured artist on The Undefeated and Disney Dreamers’ upcoming EP, Liberated: Music for the Movement Volume 3. Cordae collaborated with Common on the song “What’s Life” for the project.

The 23-year-old also announced his intention to donate his proceeds from the EP to fund scholarships for students attending HBCUs.

“So many people need the money more than I do,” Cordae said in a press release on Thursday. “I feel as though when you’re in such a blessed position, it’s important to pay that forward to be a blessing to others. It’s especially important to me to invest in our youth and the future.”

“Young people are the future of our society and the world, so we must do all we can to ensure they are properly positioned to succeed,” he added. “If I can spark the brain of a few future world leaders and geniuses, I’ll die a happy man.”

The donation clearly had a domino effect, as The Undefeated and the Disney Dreamers Academy recently announced they will also match Cordae’s contribution.

Tomorrow (June 18), Cordae will join Stephen A. Smith on his ESPN+ show “Stephen A’s World” for a live performance of “What’s Life” in celebration of Juneteenth this Saturday (June 19). He’ll also perform the track at the upcoming Sports Humanitarian Awards and present an award during the ceremony.

Yesterday (June 16), Cordae was named as a performer for the NBA Eastern & Western Conference Finals concert series. As reported by REVOLT, the four-part concert series will also include performances by Big Sean, 2 Chainz and CHIKA. Fans will be able to watch the shows on TNT and ESPN starting on or around June 20.
