A suspect is on the loose after a shooting took place Sunday (April 18) at a tavern in Wisconsin, CNN reports.

A Kenosha County sheriff said three people are dead and two others have been seriously wounded. Shots were fired around 12:40 a.m. Sunday inside and outside of the Somers House tavern.

Kenosha County sheriff David G. Beth believes the deadly shooting took place because a patron was removed from the tavern and “possibly came back a short time later,” he said.

We don’t believe this was a random act,” sheriff Beth said. “I don’t believe that the people in this area are in harm’s way because of the suspect still not being captured.” The sheriff also mentioned that a manhunt is underway, as 100 officers from various law enforcement agencies are “scouring the area” searching for clues that will help them arrest the suspect at large.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers released a solemn statement addressing the shooting Sunday afternoon.

“My heart breaks for Kenosha this morning in the wake of a shooting that took three lives and injured at least two others,” the statement reads. “I want to thank the first responders who reacted quickly and are still working to investigate and find those involved in this senseless tragedy. Kathy and I join Wisconsinites in hoping and praying those injured will recover from their injuries. We are thinking of the families and loved ones affected and the entire Kenosha community as they grieve and grapple with yet another tragic incident of gun violence.”

Data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive, local media, police reports and CNN shows there’s been at least 47 mass shootings in the U.S. within the past month. Prior to this horrific event, the Gun Violence Archive had recorded 147 mass shootings within the country this year alone.
