After a close encounter with a stalker, Willow Smith was granted a temporary restraining order this month by the state of California.

TMZ obtained court documents revealing Smith’s request. According to the paperwork, Smith says she is being hounded by 38-year-old Walter James Whaley. The court filings say Whaley trespassed onto Smith’s property last December where he roamed around her dwelling — unable to enter the house. Her security called the police when they noticed Whaley, but he was not apprehended at the time. Authorities found a Greyhound bus ticket on Whaley, revealing he had traveled from Oklahoma the day before.

The “Red Table Talk” host, who often discusses trauma alongside her mom Jada Pinkett Smith and her Grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, included images of security camera stills in her filing to further prove to the court the severity of Whaley’s stalking.

Smith, 20, also stated that she was worried about her safety and fears the intruder “will do whatever possible to make physical contact” with her. Even before Whaley traveled to Smith’s residence, she says the harassment began on social media. That’s where he would profess his love for her and declare that he wanted to have kids with her, according to the documents.

Smith found out that Whaley was a convicted sex offender when she hired a private investigator. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department shared a tweet on Wednesday (March 3) thanking the public for helping them arrest Whaley. He has been ordered to remain at least 100 yards away from Smith at all times and must stop trying to communicate with her.

Smith, her mom, and grandmother have discussed a variety of topics on their “Red Table Talk” platform. They’ve talked about motherhood, sex, forgiveness, mental illness, and many other important issues. So, perhaps fans will get to hear more about this situation on an upcoming episode of the series, which has been renewed through 2022.
