Vanessa Bryant has responded to Meek Mill’s controversial lyric about Kobe Bryant. On her Instagram Story, Vanessa called the leaked verse about her late husband “insensitive and disrespectful.”

“Dear [Meek Mill], I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period,” she wrote Monday night (Feb. 22). “I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this.”

Vanessa continued, “If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband.”

“This lacks respect and tact,” she added.

The verse in question was part of a snippet from a Meek and Lil Baby collaboration that leaked last week. On the single, which is reportedly titled “Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe),” the Philadelphia rapper makes a reference to the helicopter crash that tragically killed the NBA star, his daughter Gianna and seven others.

“Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe,” Meek spits on the track.

After Vanessa called the line insensitive, Meek tweeted, “I’m going back savage in this shit… f#%k ya feelings,” which some followers thought was directed at Vanessa. However, Meek clarified in a follow-up post that he apologized to Vanessa privately.

“I apologized to her in private earlier today, not to the public,” he wrote.

“Nothing I say on my page directed to a[n] internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman!” he added. “If you care about someone grieving change the subject!”

Meek also seemingly responded to fans’ criticism about the line last week, tweeting, “Somebody promo a narrative and y’all follow it. Y’all internet antics cannot stop me… shit like zombie land or something! Lol.”

He added, “They paying to influence y’all now… [it’s] almost like mind control ‘wake up.’”

The controversy follows a few weeks after investigators revealed the cause of Kobe’s fatal helicopter crash. As reported by REVOLT, it was determined that the pilot and Island Express Helicopters Inc. were responsible for the tragedy. Investigators found that pilot Aga Zobayan, who perished in the crash, violated federal standards when he took flight amidst heavy fog. The report also accused Island Express Helicopters Inc. of failing to oversee sufficient safety measures, which contributed to the accident.
