It’s official — Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One will face off in the next Verzuz battle. According to a tweet posted by series organizers on Tuesday (Oct. 5), the highly anticipated showdown is scheduled for Oct. 17 and will be the second event in a “TrillerVerz” weekend.
The “TrillerVerz” weekend will kick off on Saturday Oct. 16 with a performance by Jamaican DJ Super Cat at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center starting at 5 p.m. PST / 8 p.m. EST. The following day, hip hop veterans Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One will go head-to-head on the very same stage, with the battle beginning at 4 p.m. PST / 7 p.m. EST.
Beverages for the live event will be supplied by Verzuz partner Ciroc and the show is also being co-sponsored by the Barclays Center and upcoming horror TV series, “Chucky.”
As reported by REVOLT, Verzuz co-founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland previously challenged fans to guess who would be featured in the upcoming battle after sharing a flyer for the event with Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One’s silhouettes.
“We got over 16K guesses yesterday on who might be doing the #VERZUZ on Oct 17th, brought to you by the killer new series, #Chucky,” the Instagram post read on Friday (Oct. 1). “Let’s see if we can get a few more guesses... We’ll pick a few entries at random to get a pair of tix!”
Several fans recognized Kane and KRS-One’s shadows in the post and sounded off in the comments.
“That’s KRS-1 & Big Daddy Kane!” one person commented, along with multiple head-exploding emojis.
On Tuesday, Kane also shared his own post, excited about the upcoming battle.
