Rep. Cori Bush is planning to introduce a bill that will call for the explosion of all Republican members of Congress who incited the violence that took place in Washington D.C. on Wednesday (Jan. 6).

On Wednesday, Rep. Bush tweeted her plans, which would expel anyone in Congress who attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. “I believe the Republican members of Congress who have incited this domestic terror attack through their attempts to overturn the election must face consequences,” she wrote. “They have broken their sacred Oath of Office. I will be introducing a resolution calling for their expulsion.”

She then blamed Donald Trump for the violence that occurred at the U.S. Capitol. “I’m in the Capitol,” she wrote in a follow-up tweet. “I’m safe and my team and I are sheltering in place. The President of the United States has incited a riot that has now stormed the Capitol. There are rioters roaming the halls of the Capitol. I saw them with my own eyes. Our country deserves better.”

The proposed legislation would direct the House Administration and the Ethics Committees to lead an investigation into whether certain lawmakers “who have sought to overturn the 2020 Presidential election have violated their oath of Office to uphold the Constitution,” or House rules, “and should face sanction, including removal from the House of Representatives.”

Lawmakers on both sides have called for Trump to put an end to the violence his supporters have displayed. Sen. Marco Rubio tweeted, “It is crucial you help restore order by sending resources to assist the police and ask those doing this to stand down.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer released a joint statement saying, “We are calling on President Trump to demand that all protestors leave the U.S. Capitol and Capitol Grounds immediately.”
