According to NBC News, the woman who was shot earlier today after storming the U.S. Capitol has died.
A woman is reportedly in critical condition after being shot after breaking into the Capitol building on Wednesday (Jan. 6).
Video footage of the shooting was posted on social media. In the video, you can see the woman fall to the ground after a gunshot was fired. Multiple people who were surrounding her yelled out, “Active shooter.”
Kaitlan Collins, who is a CNN White House correspondent, took to Twitter and said that the woman, who was wearing a pro-Trump flag around her neck, is in critical condition. “A woman is in critical condition after being shot in the chest on the Capitol grounds, per @NoahGrayCNN. No other details were provided,” she tweeted.
The woman was escorted out of the building on a stretcher as blood covered her face and neck. A witness claims the police shot the woman. The man, who identified himself as Thomas, said they stormed into the U.S. Capitol and the woman attempted to rush in through windows. Secret service members and police were telling the woman to get back. She did not listen and they shot her.
He then said that they were removed from the building by riot police. “They started ushering us out with their sticks and stuff,” Thomas said.
Chaos continues to take place in Washington D.C. as Trump supporters try to block the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s presidency. Hundreds of those protesters breached the barriers of the U.S. Capitol and got into the building. Lawmakers have been evacuated.
One Pro-trump supporter was seen sitting inside of the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He took a photo as his feet were placed up on her desk. They also left a threatening note on one of her folders, which read, “WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN.”
