Last year, Kodak Black caught flack from the likes of T.I., The Game and Dave East after making comments about Lauren London shortly after Nipsey Hussle was killed. The Dying to Live rapper was called insensitive after he said he’d give the new widow “two [or] three” years to grieve before he tried to date her.

Now, in an open letter-format Instagram post written to Nipsey, Kodak assures the late rapper that he meant no disrespect. The message was shared on Monday (July 6), along with a photo of Nip.

“Willin To Accept When I’m Wrong & Stand Firm When I’m Right,” Kodak wrote. “The Whole World Know Your Example Was A Guiding Light. I Pray Your Fam Light & Accept This Humble Apology In My Kite. You Remind Me Of Ice cube, Bunchy Carter & Huey P.A Hustler & Owner The Second Coming Of Easy E.”

“What Happened To You Could’ve Happened To Me!” he continued. “Im a Young Philanthropist Like You. Even Tho We From Two Different Worlds, I Saw Your Vision But I Notice That My Words Are Often Misinterpreted. Sometimes A Man Say Things He Doesn’t Really Mean But On Some Z Sh*t I Never Meant To Disrespect Your Queen, Homie I Was Really Respecting Your Scene. #FLYHIGH Ima Keep The Marathon Going.”

So far, T.I. has accepted the 23-year-old rapper’s apology, commenting, “That’s solid” and “Free [Kodak Black]” on The Shade Room’s version of the post.

Although Kodak remains in prison, he recently dropped off his single and music video “Vultures Cry 2.” On Instagram, he previously teased that he’ll be home “real soon” and is gearing up to release multiple projects. As reported by REVOLT, weapons charges against the rapper were dismissed by Florida’s state attorney last month. He’s expected to be released from prison in August of 2022.
