Pop Smoke’s former manager talks possibility of Christian Dior collaboration

“He would always talk about fashion,” Steven Victor said of the late rapper.

A Pop Smoke x Dior collaboration might be in the near future.

During a recent interview with Women’s Wear Daily, the late rapper’s former manager Steven Victor discussed the possibility of posthumous collections. He detailed that the Brooklyn native often spoke about fashion before his untimely death in February.

“I would take it in stride super early on and thought let’s focus on the music first and once you’re stable as an artist then let’s dabble,” Victor said. “[Pop] would always talk about fashion. I thought he was just saying it because it was cool for rappers to say. Then over the months I realized he did have his own sense of style.”

While elaborating on the impact of Pop Smoke’s “Dior” single, Victor explained that it would be a full circle moment if the collaboration happens in the future. “You can’t say that Pop didn’t have some sort of influence on Dior, especially in the urban community,” Victor said. “I’m going to see [Dior men’s artistic director Kim Jones] and talk to him about that on some level. Maybe next year for Pop’s birthday.”

Last week, on what would’ve been the rapper’s 21st birthday, his team let loose the deluxe version of Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, which featured 34 tracks. The album also included guest appearances from Quavo, DaBaby, Lil Baby, Swae Lee, Future and more.

As REVOLT readers might recall, news broke earlier this month that three adults – Corey Walker, Keandre D. Rodgers and Jaquan Murphy – were arrested for the murder of the rapper and were being held on $1 million bails. Two juvenile male suspects were apprehended as well.

“LAPD Detectives have arrested three adult males & two juvenile males related to the Feb 19th murder of Bashar Jackson, a New York based rapper known as Pop Smoke,” the police department wrote in a statement shared on social media. “We will provide further details as they become available.”
