Brandy has officially announced her forthcoming seventh studio album, B7. The project will mark the “Love Again” singer’s first full-length LP since 2012’s Two Eleven. Brandy revealed the album’s title before performing “Baby Mama” — the record’s first offering, featuring Chance the Rapper — on “Good Morning America.” She also delivered a message to fellow mothers ahead of this weekend’s Mother’s Day (May 10).

“I wanna just encourage all mothers to stay strong, stay resilient and just know that you are superheroes and we’re all depending on mothers to do everything that we need them to do— love us all,” Brandy said Thursday (May 7).

In regard to how she’ll be celebrating the holiday, Brandy said she’s looking forward to spending the day with her mother and daughter.

“I think I’m gonna just cook and spend some time with my mom and my daughter. We’re all together — quarantined — so we’re looking forward to the day so we can love on each other some more,” she shared.

As for her current quarantine life, Brandy said self-isolating has been an “adjustment” but that they’ve been staying safe.

The Mississippi-born, California-raised singer made her return with “Baby Mama” last Friday (May 1). Produced by Hit-Boy, the track serves up a message of self-reliance and strength, inspired by Brandy’s own daughter, Sy’rai.

“The inspiration for ‘Baby Mama’ was of course my daughter and how she makes me a better person,” Brandy wrote on YouTube. “I wanted to do a song about her and speak to all baby mama’s out there that may feel like they can’t make it or they can’t push through, you know, if you use your child as an inspiration you can do anything and I want to everybody to feel that. I have to give Chance The Rapper a huge shout out, he spit a really really dope verse on it and I’m so pleased with it.”

B7 is expected to drop later this year. Revisit the album’s first single “Baby Mama” below.
