In a matter of hours, Future’s eighth studio album High Off Life has already been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The standard is applied to any release that sells over 500,000 units.

The quick feat was accomplished in part by the album’s inclusion of several previously released tracks, including “Tycoon,” “Last Name” featuring Lil Durk, “100 Shooters” featuring Doe Boy and Meek Mill and the four-times Platinum certified “Life Is Good” collaboration with Drake, as well as the single’s remix, which featured DaBaby and Lil Baby.

Although “Life Is Good” never reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, it did become the first song ever to spend its first eight consecutive weeks at the No. 2 position. The track was expected to be the first offering from Drake and Future’s next joint mixtape — a sequel to 2015’s What A Time To Be Alive. However, speaking with XXL, Future revealed that the single and its title had been his inspiration behind High Off Life.

“It’s about life and being good and just enjoying life,” the Atlanta rapper informed the outlet. “So many tragedies and catastrophes and everything is going on in the world. And you want to enjoy life, as long as you have it. Waking up, breathing, well, you want to be able to soak it all up and be appreciative for every moment on this earth, every moment that you’re living.”

This album right here defines me at a creative level,” Future continued. “Going to the next level where you just going to the next level and always going outside the box, but still remaining true to my core fans and my core audience. It’s me trying new things.”

High Off Life becomes Future’s fifth Gold certified album, following The Wizrd, Hndrxx, Honest and Pluto. His albums Evol and Future are certified Platinum, while DS2 is certified double-platinum.
