After months of anticipation, Gunna has revealed the official release date for his upcoming album, Wunna. The Drip or Drown 2 follow-up was initially delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but will now be arriving on May 22.

Gunna announced the news with an Instagram post on Tuesday (May 12), along with a teaser for the album’s accompanying short film, Wunna World.

“WUNNA WORLD,” Gunna captioned the clip. “Wunna Album 5/22/2020 Me My team and [Amazon Music] [Rap Rotation] got sum special to show y’all the creation!”

Directed by Spike Jordan, the visual will document the behind-the-scenes making of Wunna, which Gunna recorded while in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The trailer also included a few of the artists who contributed to Wunna, including producers Wheezy, Turbo, Taurus and Keyz and up-and-coming Atlanta rapper, Nechie. According to Gunna’s Instagram post, the video will also arrive next week in a coordinated effort between Amazon Music and the platform’s Rap Rotation playlist.

Wunna will serve as a follow-up to Gunna’s 2019 debut album, Drip or Drown 2. The LP debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and featured collaborations with Lil Baby, Young Thug and Playboi Carti.

“It’s very important to stay how I came in, but I still want to elevate and grow,” he previously told Hot New Hip Hop about the forthcoming record. “I don’t try to just stay the same because I already did that. So, it’s instilled in me. It’s got to stay in me, but I still try to elevate and do more.”

Most recently, the Atlanta native has teamed up with Thugger and Turbo on their “Quarantine Clean” collaboration and released his solo single, “Skybox.” Earlier this year, he appeared on black a.m. and NGHTMRE’s “Cash Cow (Remix),” Travis Scott and NAV’s “Turks,” and the “My Oh My (Remix)” alongside Camila Cabello and DaBaby.
