Kimbella, the wife of Juelz Santana, has launched a petition to get her husband released from prison early due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The “Love and Hip Hop” star started the petition on Change.org and says that she hopes Juelz can serve the rest of his sentence at home.

“#FreeJuelzSantana AKA Laron James needs to be freed during this pandemic to be with his family,” Kimbella wrote. “He is currently on lockdown for 2 weeks because of the Covid 19 virus outbreak. He has served 13 months at FCI Petersburg and should be allowed to serve the rest of his sentence on home confinement.”

She continued, “BOP & Honorable Judge Chesler can make this happen for Laron. He is a good husband, father, son, brother, friend and has a positive media influence as a legendary rap artist. We need you to sign this petition to get Laron James aka Juelz Santana home.”

As of the latest update, there have been 3,370 signatures in just four days. Fans have left comments on the petition agreeing that Juelz should be at home with his family. “He’s a good guy that made a mistake,” one fan wrote.

Juelz is currently serving a two-year sentence for gun and drugs charges connected to a 2018 arrest at Newark Liberty International Airport. He began his sentence in March of last year and was expected to be released this summer.

Other rappers have asked for a release from prison to avoid contracting Coronavirus. Tekashi 6ix9ine was released from prison four months earlier than his release date because he reportedly has asthma. YNW Melly, who tested positive for COVID-19, has asked to be released from prison to receive adequate medical care. He is currently still in prison and sharing a cell with another inmate who has tested positive for COVID-19 as well.
