Kehlani’s forthcoming album finally has a name and release date. It Was Good Until It Wasn’t will hit stores and streaming services on May 8.

In the cover art for the LP, the singer can be seen standing on an overturned chair as she holds a running water hose. She is also looking over a brick wall into her neighbor’s yard.

“The album cover is a depiction of the never-ending duality of ‘good’ and ‘bad.’ It’s a tale of perspective,” the “All Me” singer said in a press release. “The sun is shining, the sky is blue, but clearly something has gotten my attention. Paired with the back cover, we come into the question of is the grass really greener on the other side? Good things are good... until they aren’t. Then, were they ever really good?”

Back in March, Kehlani took to Twitter to let her fans know that the album had been pushed back due to COVID-19.

“To be transparent,” she tweeted, “i HAD a release date.”

“We’re unable to complete any of our plans or move forward with the album at the moment due to the pandemic,” she continued. “Not thinking about music at the moment, focused on how to just be a good citizen to society at this time. stay SAFE luv y’all.”

While fans waited for her new album to drop, she released a handful of singles including “Everybody Business” and “Toxic,” which she delivered a quarantine-style video for. The video was shot by Kehlani herself in the isolation of her own home. In the visual, the songstress can be seen posing in sultry outfits under colorful LED lights.

In 2017, the Bay Area native released her debut album SweetSexySavage. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B chart and featured hits such as “Distraction” and “CRZY.”
