Kodak Black is lending a helping hand to his Florida hometown amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. With Broward County, FL schools shut down until April 15, the Dying To Live rapper has donated $5,000 worth of books and school supplies to local students who are now learning from home.

Kodak’s attorney Bradford Cohen told TMZ that the rapper is helping to send 625 reading comprehension books directly to 625 students, along with supplies and notebooks geared toward kids in grades 1 through 5 to meet the state’s reading standards.

“Even when he knows it wont help his situation, he still gives not because of an ulterior motive, but because that’s what he does,” Cohen wrote on Instagram Thursday (March 19). “How many rappers that have been locked up help out from the box?”

According to Cohen, books and supplies were ordered on Thursday (March 19) and are expected to be delivered to students within a few days. Logistics for delivery are reportedly still being worked out — in regard to school distancing — but Kodak’s team plans to mail the supplies directly to student’s houses.

This isn’t the first time the rapper has given back to his community during his 46-month prison sentence. He previously donated grocery store gift cards and presents to families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

“[Kodak] as usual with every Thanksgiving and Christmas starts gifting early and this year, besides giving to charitable organizations like recently providing [Thanksgiving] dinner to 75 needy families for Paradise Childcare, childcare for low income families in need,” Cohen informed the rapper’s fans at time. “He is giving away 1000s of dollars in Publix gift cards directly to needy families in Broward and Dade County for Thanksgiving.”

Despite alleging mistreatment in prison, Kodak is reportedly “in good spirits” and has since teased a forthcoming album. He’s set to be released from prison in 2022, although he recently appealed his sentence.
