#FreeTheeStallion is currently trending worldwide on Twitter after Megan Thee Stallion went on Instagram live to let her fans know that her record label was refusing to release her new music.

During the live, Megan said that she is currently signed to two record labels, 1501 Record Label and 300 Entertainment. After she recently signed a management deal with Roc Nation, she was informed of things in her contract with 1501 that raised a concern to her management team. She says she went to 1501, which is owned by former MLB player Carl Crawford, and asked for her contract to be renegotiated.

“When I signed, I didn’t really know what was in my contract,” she said on live. “I was young, I think I was like 20. And, I didn’t know everything that was in that contract. So when I signed with Roc Nation, I got real management, I got real lawyers, and they was like ‘do you know this is in your contract?’ I was like, ‘oh damn, that’s crazy no I didn’t know.’”

She continued, “Soon as I said, I wanna renegotiate my contract, everything went left. It just all went bad, it all went left. So now they’re telling a bitch that she can’t drop no music. It’s really just like, a greedy game.”

Megan then went on to say that she was never trying to leave the label or take money from anyone, she just wanted to renegotiate her contract.

“I’m not a greedy person,” she continued. “I’m not a person that likes confrontation. I’m not a person that’s a bitch. I work with everybody and I’m nice and I’m real family-oriented.”

Fans are now rallying behind Megan on social media with the hashtag #FREETHEESTALLION.

One fan tweeted, “sad thing about the megan thee stallion situation is, it’s such a common issue in the industry. the industry is honestly so… chaotic and just unfair. the music industry needs a full ass revamp. #FreeTheeStallion #FreeMeg.”
