Drake’s executive-produced British gang drama “Top Boy” has been renewed for a fourth season. The series will return to Netflix, which hosted its third season last year.

The OVO boss took to Instagram on Wednesday (Feb. 26) to announce the news.

“WE BAAAAAAAACK,” he wrote.

According to Deadline, the show’s original cast, including Ashley Walters, Kane Robinson, Michael Ward and UK rapper Little Simz are set to begin production for the next season this spring.

“Top Boy” first debuted back in 2011. The series was created by Ronan Bennett, who is also set to return this season, along with writer Daniel West. Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind from Cowboy Films will produce the season, alongside Bennett.

With Drake’s help, “Top Boy” returned last year after going on hiatus following its second season. The megastar serves as the series’ executive producer, along with his business partner Adel “Future” Nur and SpringHill Entertainment’s Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson. Drizzy first got the ball rolling by posting a photo of Walters, revealing his adoration for the show, just as it had been dropped by its UK channel.

“Next thing I knew, we were sitting in a room with Netflix. And here we are,” Walters had reflected during the Netflix third season premiere, according to BBC.

“I ain’t gonna lie — in the beginning, I was slightly starstruck meeting [Drake]. But obviously he’s a big fan of the show, and the actors in the show as well. So there’s a mutual respect there,” Walters said, adding that Drake’s affiliation didn’t change the direction of series.

“[He] didn’t want to change anything creatively,” Walters explained. “It was just about remaking the show that he loves so much.”

Back in 2017, there were rumors that Drake and British rapper Skepta would join the show’s cast. However, neither of them have appeared in series— yet.
