Jalaiah Harmon is continuing to get all of the recognition and credit that she deserves for creating one of the hottest dance crazes ever. The 14-year-old teen was able to show off her dance moves to Ellen DeGeneres on “The Ellen Show.”

After the dance, DeGeneres asked Harmon how long it took to her to make up the dance. “It only took about 5 to 10 minutes, but it took a lot of tries. It was right before dance, so I had to really rush,” she replied.

DeGeneres then gifted Harmon with a jacket that read “the original Renegade dancer” on the back and her name on the front. The five pockets had $1000 inside each other them.

Harmon is the creator of the popular TikTok “Renegade Dance,” but she was never given the proper credit for creating the dance. Instead, other popular white TikTok influencers were.

The real backlash came after the NBA invited the white TikTok influencers to All-Star week in Chicago perform the dance at different events. Social media users called for Harmon to be recognized for creating the dance.

One user tweeted, “I’ve been seeing this dance all over the place for months. Of COURSE a Black girl started and white kids took it and didn’t credit her. I didn’t even care about that thing but now I am UPSET. Give Jalaiah Harmon her things!”

Harmon was then invited by the NBA to perform the “Renegade Dance” during the All-Star Game. She performed in front of celebrities like Cardi B, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Migos, and Chance The Rapper.

K Camp, whose single “Lottery” is the choice of song for the “Renegade Dance,” recently linked up with Harmon and thanked her for making his song the biggest out.

“Thank you Jalaiah and Skylar for helping make lottery the BIGGEST song in the world. Tell the blogs eat it up!” he tweeted. He also shared a video of Harmon and a friend doing the dance.
