The 14-year-old who took the world by storm with her dance moves is finally getting the respect and credit she deserves.

The NBA asked Jalaiah Harmon, the creator of the “Renegade Dance,” to perform during the 2020 All-Star Game. Harmon hit the court during a timeout and performed her dance in front of celebrities like J. Cole, Kanye West, Cardi B, and Migos.

Harmon created the “Renegade Dance” to the song “Lottery” by K Camp, but no one really knew until recently when Taylor Lorenz wrote about it for The New York Times. The dance has taken over social media and everyone is doing the dance from Lizzo to Kourtney Kardashian. TikTok star Charli D’Amelio was cited with making the dance popular, but no one credited Harmon for creating the dance.

“I was happy when I saw my dance all over,” she said to The New York Times. “But I wanted credit for it.”

She continued, “I posted on Instagram and it got about 13,000 views, and people started doing it over and over again.”

“I think I could have gotten money for it, promos for it, I could have gotten famous off it, get noticed,” she continued. “I don’t think any of that stuff has happened for me because no one knows I made the dance.”

After the interview, social media users called for Harmon to get the proper credit she deserved.

One user tweeted, “I’ve been seeing this dance all over the place for months. Of COURSE a Black girl started and white kids took it and didn’t credit her. I didn’t even care about that thing but now I am UPSET. Give Jalaiah Harmon her things!”

K Camp recently linked up with Harmon and thanked her for making his song the biggest song out.

“Thank you Jalaiah and Skylar for helping make lottery the BIGGEST song in the world. Tell the blogs eat it up!” he tweeted. He also shared a video of Harmon and a friend doing the dance.
