It seems like Snoop Dogg may have had a change of heart when it comes to his comments about Gayle King.

The drama all started when King did an interview with Lisa Leslie in the wake of Kobe Bryant’s untimely death. King asked Leslie a question regarding Bryant’s dismissed rape case complicating his legacy. Ever since a snippet of the interview aired, King has been receiving death threats and many celebrities have spoken out against her and Oprah Winfrey.

Snoop immediately took to Instagram to express his feelings about the question King asked, which he felt was “out of pocket.”

“Gayle King, [you] out of pocket for that shit, way out of pocket,” Snoop said in the now-deleted Instagram video. “What do you gain from that? I swear to God, we the worst. We the fucking worst. We expect more from you Gayle. Don’t you hang out with Oprah? Why y’all attacking us? We your people! You ain’t come after fucking Harvey Weinstein, asking them dumb-ass questions. I get sick of y’all.”

Snoop was met with major criticism from people who perceived his message as misogynistic, disrespectful, and violent. The rapper later clarified that he never meant to wish harm on King, but he was just speaking up for everyone who believed that her question was disrespectful.

Today (Feb. 12), Snoop issued a formal apology to King after having a talk with his mother.

“Two wrongs don’t make no right. When you’re wrong, you gotta fix,” he said in the Instagram video. ”So with that being said, Gayle King, I publicly tore you down by coming at you in a derogatory manner based off of emotions … me being angry at questions that you asked … Should have handled it way different than that. I was raised way better than that, so I would like to apologize to you publicly for that language that I used and calling you out of your name and just being disrespectful.”

Snoop says that he was just expressing himself and sticking up for a friend who “wasn’t here to defend himself.”

”A lot of people look up to me and they love and they appreciate me,” he continued. “So I want to let them know that anytime you mess up, it’s okay to fix it, it’s okay to man up and say that you’re wrong.”

Snoop also says he hopes that he and King and can sit and talk privately about the situation. Check out his apology video below.
