R&B fans may finally be getting what they’ve been clamoring for. On Wednesday (Dec. 2), Keyshia Cole returned to Instagram with a big announcement.

“How are you guys LONG TIME NO HEAR!!!” the “Love” singer wrote. “Verzuz BATTLE OTW.”

Fans immediately flooded Cole’s comments and sounded off on Twitter who they think she will compete against. Several social media users are leaning toward a Keyshia Cole and Ashanti face-off, especially since the pair has teased battling each other in the past.

Back in May, Cole stoked the rumors by sharing a fan-made Instagram post that compared her and Ashanti’s hits.

“My fans sent me this — Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Ashanti. Is this accurate?” she wrote, also tagging the official Verzuz account.

Then, during Snoop Dogg and DMX’s July showdown, Cole appeared in the comments to egg Ashanti on.

“Was good,” she addressed the “Foolish” songstress, which many fans took as a Verzuz challenge.

Ashanti also shared her potential interest during an interview with Fat Joe. When her former collaborator floated the idea of a Verzuz with Cole, Ashanti replied, “Listen, if they want to see it — I ain’t mad.”

Cole and Ashanti last worked together in 2012 on their hit, “Woman To Woman.” Both songstresses released their breakout hits in the early 2000’s.

“Maan Ashanti versuz Keyshia Cole is definitely going on the big screen in my living room!” one fan tweeted. “I need that!”

Besides Ashanti, Instagram users also guessed that Cole could go up against Fantasia, K. Michelle or Teyana Taylor. Regardless of whom Cole ends up battling, it’s clear fans are excited to celebrate her music on Verzuz.

“All Keyshia Cole have is hits!! Don’t play with her,” one person tweeted.

Keyshia Cole with the red and blonde hair was an era that I’ll forever stan,” wrote another.
