It looks like we won’t get to see Bow Wow compete in a Verzuz battle any time soon.

On Thursday (Dec. 10), the “Outta My System” emcee took to Twitter and said that he would not participate in a Verzuz because he still has to finish touring next year. “The reason for me not doing a Verzuz is because we still have the Millennium Tour 2021 to finish,” he wrote. “Plus, you can see the hits LIVE. Doesn’t make sense for me to do 1 when I’m currently on an Arena Tour.”

Fans were disappointed to hear his reasoning. Twitter user @yungkenzo tweeted, “1. We don’t know if concerts will be back in 2021. 2. It would probably be good promo. N*ggas will remember how live your hits were then wanna go see them in person.”

“Bruh, that’s not gonna be until at least August with the way this Rona is shakin’ out,” tweeted @amoreSTEPH. “And Verzuz ain’t a concert, it’s paying homage to your catalogue and storytelling — when done right. Concerts do that a different way, with pyro and shit. You should reconsider.”

A few days ago, Bow joined a Clubhouse chat and spoke about hypothetical opponents for him to battle on Verzuz. According to Huff Post editor Phil Lewis, he said that a matchup between him and Soulja Boy “would be fun.”

Fans on social media quickly reacted to the news about the possible competition. An individual who sided with the “Bounce with Me” emcee tweeted, “We might rightfully clown Bow Wow all the time, but make no mistake, Bow Wow would wash Soulja Boy in a #VERZUZ.”

“Mannnn, the idea of this is disrespectful to Soulja Boy,” tweeted a fan of the “Crank That” rapper. “He’s in a whole different league than Bow Wow. How you not even gonna put the national anthem ‘(Turn My Swag On)’ on here?”

Do you think Bow should put his pride aside and do a Verzuz battle for the culture?
