Nicki Minaj welcomed her first child into the world with her husband Kenneth Petty on Wednesday (Sept. 30) in Los Angeles, however, the birth of the baby has yet to be publicly confirmed by Ms. Nicki herself.

On Saturday (Oct. 3), Nicki’s mother, Carol Maraj, confirmed the welcoming of Minaj’s child with an Instagram post.

“Thank you Lord for Blessing my daughter @nickiminaj with a beautiful bundle of joy!” Maraj captioned her post. “You have always been a Blessing to myself and your family, and now you have received one of the best Blessings from God. ‘Children are a gift from the Lord. They are a reward from Him.’ Psalms 127:3 #glamma let us rejoice!!!!”

Since the birth of her new bundle joy, the multi-platinum rap phenom has been relatively quiet. As of now, the baby’s name and gender have yet to be unveiled.

Nicki announced her pregnancy back in July with a collection of vibrant photos taken by notable photographer David LaChappelle. Nicki has always talked about having a child one day. On her 2014 project The Pinkprint, she opened up about having a miscarriage on the album’s opener “All Things Go.”

During an interview with Complex the same year as The Pinkprint’s release, she predicted that she’d be getting married first before having a child.

“I want to make sure I do it in that order, I’ve always felt like that since I was young; my mother always put that in my head,” she said. “By the fifth album, I will have walked down the aisle and I will at least be on baby number one, possibly baby number two.”

So far, her plan has been right on track. Nicki’s 2018 album, Queen, is her fourth and she’s reportedly been working on her fifth album, even though she announced her retirement from rap over a year ago.
