“Insecure” is finally coming back to our television screens for season number four. HBO has released the first trailer from the newest season and Issa Rae and her “mirror bitch” personality are back.

In the trailer, Rae, who plays Issa Dee on the show, is seen rapping to herself in the mirror. The self-proclaimed “mirror bitch” gives herself positive affirmations through a rap song.

She raps, “It’s time to level up, hoe/call me elevator/not worried about no bullshit/not worried about no haters.”

“Insecure” follows four best friends, played by Rae, Yvonne Orji, Natasha Rothwell and Amanda Seales, as they struggle through their personal lives and love lives in Los Angeles, California.

“This season is about our characters leveling up, entering the next phase in their life, when they’re deciding to be intentional about a lot of the things that they’re doing,” Rae told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour. “Issa specifically has quit her job and she’s pursuing this passion. Molly is in her first real relationship in a very long time and kind of prioritizing that and balancing her work and relationship.”

In September of last year, the cast revealed that they had starting shooting episodes for season four. Fans had to wait awhile for the latest season to drop and Rae explained the delay in a 2019 interview. She felt like the series’ writers needed more time. She told The Guardian that her and her team had been going “back-to-back for three years.”

“Making that show means nine months out of the year, you can’t do anything else, and nobody wants to feel like a hamster on a wheel,” Rae added. “That’s not conducive to creativity at all. So much of that show is about our own experiences, so we need to be able to live life.”
