The south has had a very strong chokehold on the rap game now, specifically Atlanta overall. However, let’s be clear for a second — Memphis has had foots on necks for just as long. Dating back to the early Three 6 Mafia days along with Memphis greats like 8Ball & MJG, Yo Gotti and others, what the city of Memphis has brought to the game is profound and should never go unnoticed. There’s been a great deal of southern artists to hit the scene in recent times and Big30 is one of the few at the forefront. The 1017 rapper has built some great momentum and hype for himself with his solid features and frequent single releases, but this is his time to shine for sure — his debut project King of Killbranch is here and well worth the listen.

When your music is stamped by Memphis OG Juicy J, you know the product is nothing short of fire. The rising Memphis rapper flexes his lyrical ability on King of Killbranch, demonstrating how well he can navigate a song with other rap heavyweights. He has Pooh Shiesty lace both “Free Shiest Life” and “Allegations,” showing how their chemistry has evolved since they joined forces on Shiesty’s track “Neighbors.” Yo Gotti also appears on the single “Too Official,” a song that got an energized music video. BIG30 also proves that he can rap with the best of them when he enlists the talents of Future to assist him on “Whatever Come Wit It,” and holds it down solo on several tracks including “King of My Projects,” a project stand out.

This is only the beginning for the 21-year-old rapper. With no ceilings on his art and where he’s going, Big30 will for sure be around for quite some time — especially with leaders like Gucci Mane to help guide him. Check it out and put your friends on if they are late to the party.
