Rising R&B star Amaria has released her latest single over the weekend, and made sure to pair the release with an accompanying video. Midway through the lo-fi visual, we see her co-star Mick Jenkins join her with his assist, his face flashing across a large supply of TV’s stacked on top of each other. Through a fish eye lens, Amaria delivers her soft-spoken opening hook and verse:

So far in 2021, Amaria has dropped off a few singles, including cuts like “Roses” and “Think About It.” She had an active 2020, keeping herself busy throughout the ongoing pandemic by releasing plenty of songs like “Rewind” with Joe Saan, “Moon,” “Twilight,” In one of her interviews from this year, Amaria spoke about the honest feel in all her lyrics. “I want people to find something they relate to,” she said, emphasizing how relatability is a priority. “I want someone to be like, ‘I know exactly what you mean, and I’m going to sing this because I’m going through the same thing.’”

Most recently, Mick Jenkins dropped off his attention-garnering “Truffles” music video, where fans can see an eerie plotline unfold. So far this year, we’ve heard a slew of features from Jenkins. These tracks include “SUPER8” with CANCEL CULTURE and Meltycanon, “Kill Me” with Daichi Yamamoto, “Teriyaki” with Nate Husser, “Sleep” with Markis Precise, “Don’t Need You (Remix)” with Genesis Owusu, and “royal flush” with LOONY. Prior to the aforementioned The Circus was his 2018 Pieces of a Man project. That album included features from Julian Bell, Mikahl Anthony, Ghostface Killah, Corrine Bailey Rae, and more.
