Nigeria’s global star drops off some additional heat.

These days, there is about a 75-80% chance that when an artist drops an album, there will be a deluxe version of it following through shortly after. In Wizkid’s case, the 31-year-old vibe provider waited almost a year for his time. Given that this is a modern day strategy to boost album sales, deluxe albums typically do a great job at that. One could actually credit the COVID-19 pandemic for this type of move, given the fact that the world was shut down and many artists missed out on millions of dollars due to cancelled tours, festivals, and concerts.

It’s been four years since we were last afforded the privilege of a WizKid album until he dropped his Made In Lagos project in October 2020. Fans have enjoyed the singles and features in between, but that particular album from the StarBoy himself has been long awaited. Today (Aug 27), Wizkid pulls up with the deluxe version of the LP.

This year, there is no secret that the world has been nonstop vibing to the standout hit record from Made In Lagos, “Essence” featuring Tems. Until this very moment, there is not one club, kickback, bar, radio station or anywhere public that doesn’t have the infectious record in rotation. On the deluxe version of the album, Wizkid took the liberty of featuring global star Justin Bieber to provide some extra vibes to the “Essence” remix. Along with that record, Wizkid included three additional tracks, one of them featuring singer Buju.

Wizkid has had U.S. success before, as a collaborator to Western superstars: His feature on Drake’s “One Dance” became both his first Hot 100 entry and No. 1 in 2016, while this year, he earned his first Grammy Award for best music video for his collaboration on Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl.” Tap into the deluxe version of Made In Lagos, which is available now.
