Tonight (June 18), H.E.R. will release her official debut LP Back of My Mind, which boasts previously released cuts like “Damage,” “Come Through” with Chris Brown, “Hold On,” and “Slide” with YG. As one final teaser before she unleashes the highly anticipated body of work in full, she drops off “My Own.” On the track, she croons about needing to hold it down for herself:

Said I been away too long, every time I hear that song/ I don’t wanna hear it no more, baby, I can’t take no more from you/ I don’t wanna play no more, know we goin’ back and forth on me/

I be all ready, on call, even when I know it’s wrong from me/ Somethin’, I don’t know, but it’s somethin’ I don’t wanna work for somethin’ knowin’ it ain’t worth it/ Oh, comin’, you know it was comin’/ You should know that I don’t act like that without a purpose, oh

Back in February, the official soundtrack for Judas and the Black Messiah surfaced, revealing contributions from names like Nas, Lil Durk, G Herbo, Rakim, H.E.R., and many more. H.E.R. contributed a powerful single and visual “Fight For You,” which served to empower her people. She also recently landed on the soundtrack for Netflix series ‘We The People’ with her song “Change.”

H.E.R.’s last full-length project was 2019’s I Used To Know Her. The 19-track compilation included features from DJ Scratch, YBN Cordae, and Bryson Tiller. In 2020, she shared a handful of singles including “Do To Me,” “Wrong Places” from Songland,“Slide” and its remix featuring A Boogie, Chris Brown, and the late Pop Smoke, and “Comfortable.” She also provided assists on Skip Marley’s “Slow Down” and Lonr.’s “Make The Most.”

Be sure to press play on H.E.R.’s brand new track “My Own” and keep a look out for her project Back Of My Mind dropping tonight.
