It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard from Majid Jordan, the acclaimed singer/producer duo made up of Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman. Fans were elated to see the duo has officially returned with a brand new new track and stunning visual titled “Waves of Blue” via OVO Sound. In the new video, Majid is front-and-center and Jordan sits at an elegant white piano as vibrant colors and cosmos orbit the duo in an augmented-reality dreamscape as the soothing vocals play:

I wanna hold you close, don’t wanna let you go/ Be with you night and day, ‘cause I’ve been feeling so low/ Don’t have to ask me twice, you really take me there/ I wanna touch your light, I wanna breathe in your air, I’ll be holding you tight

When the night is through, we’ll be riding the tide in the sky so alive, on waves of blue (Waves of blue)/ I’m in love with the thought of being in love

The two artists made sure to give a bit of detail about what the song means to them. “‘Waves of Blue’ is like staring at the ocean. You’re not in the water, but you’re still getting carried away by its currents,” they say via press release about the metaphor. “It’s the story of someone’s desire to love and be lost in that love.”

The release of Majid Jordan’s 2013 debut EP Afterhours turned heads, eventually capturing the attention of OVO Sound. After co-producing and writing Drake’s 2013 6x-platinum smash “Hold On We’re Going Home” Majid Jordan’s sound catapulted into the mainstream and led them to signing to OVO Sound in later that year in 2013. They released their first official EP A Place Like This in 2014, and then swung back around to share the full-length version in 2016.
