Unfortunately, Casanova has been spending the last couple of months in prison due to various charges in relation to his alleged involvement with the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation Gang. Thankfully, he appears to remain in high hopes — this weekend sees him unveiling a new track titled “Don’t Wanna,” which features assistance from Jacquees and takes from Blackstreet’s classic cut “Before I Let You Go.” The heartfelt single is a message to his longtime girlfriend Swaggy Jazzy in lieu of his past and current incarceration:

“What you think that I’m leaving you for, if I get locked with five, what I’m leaving you for, would you flip it for me just like Keyshia Ka’oir, put me back on my feet when I leave out them bars/

Hard times, only you and mama visit, so when I came home, I took you to the Diamond District…/”

“Don’t Wanna” comes with a matching video that mixes both video footage and stills of the beautiful couple with shots of Jacquees and Blackstreet, matching the song’s Valentine’s Day-perfect subject matter.

“Don’t Wanna” follows a slew of loose singles from the Brooklyn emcee, including “Red Light” with Smoove’L, “Don’t Play Games” with DMX, “Virgil” with Ugly God and Duke Deuce, and “211” with Snoop Dogg. Prior to that, he liberated his official debut LP Behind These Scars, which boasted 10 cuts and additional appearances from Giggs, Fabolous, Gunna, Young Thug, Jeremih, and Chris Brown.

Adding to the aforementioned legal issues, Casanova also found himself being disciplined after a recording of him unmasked doing the “Junebug Challenge” — a Tik Tok dance performed over SPOTEMGOTTEM’s “BeatBox” — landed on social media. Apparently, recording videos and taking photos during virtual visits are banned.
